MID-CENTURY MODERN IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

Trailways Building : Bus Depot & Beach Cab Co.

Under their ownership, Collier Corporation ensured that Tamiami Trailways always operated the most up-to-date buses and built new, modern terminals throughout Florida and Georgia.

This modern single story mixed-use building was designed with high clerestory windows protected with deep overhangs to maximize daylight but reduce direct sunlight. A vertical stone element, reminiscent of earlier Frank Lloyd Wright designs, identifies the main entrance and served as a signboard for Tamiami Trailways, the main tenant.

Original tenants were the Trailways Bus Depot, the Naples Beach Cab Co, an engineer's office and the Bus Station Restaurant.
